What started as one man with a truck and Carrier training is now a family shop that still answers its own phone.
It started with Tom
Tom Hawkins trained at Carrier's Engineering Design School in 1970, and in March 1976 he opened Hawkins Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, Inc. right here in Abilene. The idea was simple, and it hasn't changed: do honest work, treat people like neighbors, and stand behind the job.
Fifty years later, Tom still oversees jobs. Dianne and Lee Ann Hawkins still help run the place. And the crew — Josh, Brandon, Nano, Isaiah — are the same names our customers put in their reviews.

In 2025, Hawkins joined Accurate Air Solutions and now serves as its dedicated residential HVAC arm. What that means for you: more depth behind the truck, the same family name on it.
The people, the standards, and the promise haven't changed. We're carrying on the tradition Tom started in 1976 — just with a little more bench behind us.

We show up for Abilene off the clock, too
Every fall, our crew joins Heat the Town — a Saturday fixing heat for neighbors who can't afford the repair. Tom dispatches. We also support Meals on Wheels and St. Paul UMC. Fifty years in one town means these aren't strangers. They're neighbors.
What the Big Country says about us
Our AC went out on a Sunday in July. Josh had us cool again that afternoon and the price was exactly what he quoted.
Hawkins put in our new Carrier system. Clean install, showed up on time, and Tom himself checked the job.
